Most people come to counselling at a time of crisis. It is also common for people to try and manage their emotional distress before seeking professional help however, it is important that you do not wait for a crisis before getting help. This could be due to a significant event like loss of a loved one, relationship or marriage breakup, loss of a job or income, criminal conviction, work-related issues plus more. Such events may aggravate feels of anxiety, depression, stress or anger. Session duration and length of therapy
Sessions normally last 50 minutes and are held once a week, in the same place and at the same time each week. The frequency may also depend on your circumstances, your therapist’s availability and the frequency that you both judge will benefit you.
With regards to the length of therapy, it is very difficult to estimate how long the therapeutic process may last as this will relate uniquely to the individual and their particular needs and aims. Sometimes people come with very definite and particular emotional difficulties that may be addressed in a few sessions hence; we offer packages of 6 sessions for those who prefer short term/ brief therapy.
However, it also possible that what may seem to be a definite and particular problem may turn out to be related to long-term difficulties for instance childhood experiences, multiple loses plus more.
